Institute: Blood Reserves Critically Low, Appeals to Citizens to Donate Blood

Serbia's blood reserves are critically low, prompting an urgent appeal from the Institute for Blood Transfusion for citizens to donate blood.

The Institute specifically highlighted that blood groups A and O, along with all Rh-negative types, are in "very short supply." This shortage necessitates immediate action to replenish the nation's blood banks and ensure that medical facilities can continue to provide essential treatments.

Healthy and adult citizens are urged to contribute by donating blood. The Institute has outlined a comprehensive schedule for blood donation drives across various locations in Belgrade and nearby areas. Donations can be made at the Institute's main facility located in Ulica Svetog Save on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Additionally, a mobile transfusion bus will be available at different sites throughout the week. On Monday, it will be stationed in front of the "Banjica" shopping center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday will see the bus at the Municipal Assembly of New Belgrade and in front of "Lidl" in Železnik during the same hours. Further mobile donation points are scheduled for Obrenovac, Čukarica, Vidikovac, Voždovac, and Lazarevac, with specific times and locations detailed for each day until Sunday, August 29th.

The Institute's appeal underscores the vital importance of regular blood donations in maintaining adequate healthcare services. Every donation plays a crucial role in saving lives and supporting patients undergoing various medical procedures.
