Inter sign England full-back Spence from Tottenham

Inter Milan has officially completed the signing of England international Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur. The full-back has agreed to a five-year contract with the Serie A champions, who are reportedly paying a transfer fee in the region of 30 million euros (£25.6 million) for the 26-year-old.

Spence had already signaled his departure from Tottenham, posting a heartfelt farewell message to the club's supporters, staff, and players on social media. He reflected on his time at the club, cherishing the memories and experiences, and stated that while it's time for a new chapter, Spurs will always remain in his heart.

This transfer makes Spence the second England player to join Inter this summer, following John Stones, who moved to the San Siro after his contract with Manchester City expired. Spence's move to Italy is not his first; he previously had a six-month loan spell at Genoa in 2024.

Spence joined Tottenham from Middlesbrough in 2022 for an initial £12.5 million and made 85 appearances across all competitions. However, with the recent signing of first-choice right-back Pedro Porro to a new deal and the arrival of left-back Andy Robertson from Liverpool, his first-team opportunities at Spurs were expected to be limited. Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi had previously expressed a desire to keep Spence at the club.
