Inter thrash Monza 4-1 to launch Serie A title defence

Inter Milan launched their Serie A title defense with an emphatic 4-1 home win against newly promoted Monza. The Italian champions set the tone early, with Hakan Calhanoglu scoring from distance in just the sixth minute.

Monza, returning to the top flight after a season in Serie B, managed to equalize in the 29th minute through Gustavo Varela. However, Inter quickly reasserted their dominance after the break. Piotr Zielinski restored Inter's lead in the 48th minute, and Pio Esposito extended it eight minutes later with an inventive backheel finish from Andy Diouf's cross.

Yann Bisseck completed the scoring in the 63rd minute, underlining Inter's status as clear favorites to retain the Scudetto. The victory showcased Inter's attacking prowess and depth, with multiple players contributing to the goals.

New signing John Stones, one of three England internationals acquired by Inter during the offseason, made his debut as a late substitute. Meanwhile, rivals Napoli, Juventus, and AC Milan are also preparing for their league season openers, with Napoli facing Genoa, Juventus playing Frosinone, and AC Milan taking on Torino.
