Intercultura opens applications for new student exchange programs from Argentina to South Africa

Intercultura is opening applications for its 2027-28 student exchange programs, offering teenagers the chance to attend school abroad and live with a local family.

Online applications run from 1 September to 10 November. The competition is open to secondary-school students born between 1 July 2009 and 31 August 2012. Programs range from annual placements to semester, three-month, two-month and summer options across about 60 destinations.

The new offerings include a three-month stay in Argentina, semester programs in New Zealand, Guatemala, Denmark and Sweden, and both semester and three-month options in Norway. Intercultura will also hold information sessions online and in person throughout the application period in the 160 Italian cities where it operates with more than 5,500 volunteers.

The association describes the exchange as a form of active global citizenship. Its program includes selection designed to help students better understand themselves, continuing preparation before, during and after the experience, and round-the-clock support from its volunteer network.

Intercultura said it will provide more than 1,000 scholarships based on academic merit and household income, as part of its effort to make participation more affordable.
