Interior Minister Visits Aceh's Wali Nanggroe in Malaysia, Delivers Greetings from President Prabowo

Indonesian Interior Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian traveled to Penang, Malaysia, to visit the Wali Nanggroe of Aceh, Tgk Malik Mahmud Al-Haythar. The visit, undertaken on the direct orders of President Prabowo Subianto, followed reports of the Wali Nanggroe's extended treatment and recovery period in Malaysia.

During the meeting, Minister Karnavian conveyed President Prabowo's respectful greetings and prayers for the Wali Nanggroe's swift recovery and safe return to Indonesia. The Minister emphasized that the President's attention signifies deep respect for the Wali Nanggroe's esteemed position within Aceh's traditional, cultural, and unity frameworks.

The Wali Nanggroe, who has been receiving medical care for nearly three months, reported that his treatment is nearing completion and he is approaching full recovery. He anticipates returning to Aceh in early September 2026, provided there are no further complications. Despite his recovery process, the Wali Nanggroe has continued to participate in some institutional activities online, including a forum on establishing a Sharia Commercial Court in July.

Minister Karnavian welcomed the positive health developments, encouraging the Wali Nanggroe to complete his recovery as advised by medical professionals before resuming his duties. The Lembaga Wali Nanggroe, established under Aceh's special autonomy law, functions as an independent and authoritative traditional leadership body crucial for unifying the Acehnese community.
