Interior Minister Visits Karachi Passport Office, Promises Expansion

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made a visit to the passport office at Karachi's Awami Markaz on Saturday, signaling a commitment to improving public services. During his visit, Naqvi announced that the facility would be expanded to enhance convenience for citizens.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, Naqvi engaged directly with individuals seeking passports at the center. He inquired about the waiting times, from token issuance to counter service. The ministry reported that citizens expressed their appreciation for the passport issuance system and conveyed satisfaction with the process, noting that their tasks were completed within minutes.

The ministry's statement further claimed that applicants reported no difficulties in obtaining their passports and experienced minimal waiting times. This visit follows a previous incident in June where officials at the same passport office were suspended after a foreign national was issued a Pakistani passport there.

In a separate development, Naqvi also visited Jinnah International Airport. There, he reviewed the immigration process at the counters, which experienced a malfunction. He directed officials to resolve the issue immediately and stressed the importance of maintaining continuous immigration operations, even if alternative measures are required. The minister also met with departing passengers and ordered strict action against those carrying fake or unverified documents, stating they would not be permitted to travel.
