Interior Ministry announces removal of Seferihisar Mayor İsmail Yetişkin from office

The Mayor of Seferihisar, İsmail Yetişkin, has been suspended from his duties by the Ministry of Interior. This action follows his arrest and subsequent detention along with 11 other individuals as part of an investigation by the Seferihisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Yetişkin faces serious charges, including bribery, extortion (three counts), and establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes. The prosecutor's office initiated the investigation, leading to the decision for his arrest.

In response to the legal proceedings and the measure of detention, the Ministry of Interior announced Yetişkin's temporary removal from office. This decision was made in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of Law No. 5393 on Municipalities, which allow for such provisional measures when a mayor is under investigation and detained.

The Ministry's statement, released via its social media account, confirmed the suspension, emphasizing it as a temporary measure pending the outcome of the investigation and legal process.
