Interior Ministry issues voter notifications, allows proxy voting for Moroccans abroad

Morocco's Ministry of Interior has begun distributing voter notifications to citizens. These notices inform voters about their designated polling stations for the legislative elections scheduled for September 23. The distribution process will continue until September 22.

Minister of Interior stated that local administrative authorities will deliver these notifications. The notices will remind voters of the election date and polling hours. However, the ministry emphasized that the notification is not a mandatory document for voting. The national identity card remains the sole official document required to prove a voter's identity at the polling station.

For Moroccans residing abroad, the ministry launched an online platform on August 24 for establishing voting proxies. This platform will remain accessible until noon on September 22. This initiative aligns with the organizational law concerning the House of Representatives, which permits expatriate Moroccans to vote by proxy.

The platform enables voters living outside Morocco to appoint another voter, provided that individual is registered in the electoral roll of a commune or district within the Kingdom, to cast a ballot on their behalf. Voters can access the platform via www.elections.ma and www.listeselectorales.ma. They must enter the required information, details of their chosen proxy, and confirm the accuracy of the data before attesting to the proxy's creation personally. Afterward, they must download a copy of the proxy and send it to their chosen representative via email or postal mail.
