International, Israeli carriers set to expand Tel Aviv routes

International and Israeli airlines are significantly expanding their flight operations to and from Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion Airport, signaling a growing confidence in the region's travel market. This expansion includes the resumption of routes by major carriers and the launch of new services by Israeli airlines.

United Airlines is set to resume its flights to Israel on September 8, operating two daily routes from Newark to Tel Aviv. According to reports, the US airline's return is expected to intensify competition on the highly sought-after routes between Israel and the United States. This move comes amid a broader trend of airlines increasing their presence at Ben-Gurion Airport.

KLM has also restarted its operations, with a Tel Aviv-Amsterdam route resuming on August 25. Sales for this route began on August 6. A KLM spokesperson stated the airline "continuously adjusts its network based on commercial and operational considerations." The flights on this route will include a technical stopover in Larnaca, Cyprus, with an overnight stay for the flight crew.

Lufthansa is also boosting its flights to and from Israel, with plans to operate up to 67 flights per week starting in September. Amid this surge in global carrier activity, Israeli airline Israir is also preparing to join the competition. Israir has received approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel to operate flights to the US and is expected to seek final approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration for flights to New York.
