Investigators solve 'hotel thefts' case

Casablanca police have arrested a hotel employee on suspicion of stealing money from the rooms of female athletes participating in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations currently being held in Morocco. The arrest was made by the judicial police in the Anfa district of Casablanca on Saturday. Authorities received a complaint regarding scattered thefts of money from the rooms of players from one of the national teams. Intensive field investigations led to the identification and apprehension of the suspect, who works at the hotel where the athletes were staying. During searches related to the case, police seized 10,000 dirhams, which represents the total amount stolen. The suspect had reportedly converted the money from dollars to the national currency. The suspect has been placed under judicial custody as the investigation, overseen by the public prosecutor's office, continues to uncover all alleged criminal acts attributed to him.
