Iran Claims Missile Attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait; US Says Attacks Failed

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for missile and drone attacks against targets in Bahrain and Kuwait, asserting these actions were in retaliation for alleged US strikes. The IRGC stated it attacked the US Fifth Fleet headquarters and an airbase, along with helicopters in a regional country, in response to what it described as a US attack on a communications tower south of Qeshm Island. Furthermore, the IRGC's navy reportedly targeted a vessel identified as Panaya with missiles, citing a US attack on an Iranian tanker near the Strait of Hormuz that damaged its engine room.

"Disrupting the security of the Strait of Hormuz will carry a heavy price for the US military," local media cited the IRGC as saying. However, the US military contradicted these claims, stating that Iranian missile attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain were unsuccessful. According to US Central Command, two missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart, and three missiles launched at Bahrain were intercepted by US and Bahraini forces. The US also confirmed conducting strikes on Qeshm Island in response to attempted attacks by Iran and reported defeating multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Bahrain's interior ministry announced that a warning siren had sounded and urged citizens and residents to remain calm and seek shelter. Kuwait's army reported that its air defenses were actively intercepting hostile missile and drone attacks, advising the public to follow official safety instructions and noting that any explosions heard were the result of these interceptions. Explosions were also reportedly heard near Iran's Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran's Mehr news agency.
