Iran confirms US peace deal, says negotiations to be held during 60-day period

Iran has officially confirmed a peace deal with the United States, a development that could reshape regional dynamics. The confirmation came from Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, who stated that Tehran will enter a proposed 60-day negotiation period for a final agreement only after verifying Washington's commitments.

The enemy that had launched an attack to carry out its sinister objectives suffered defeat in all its goals, and the Islamic Republic of Iran achieved great victories in the war. Gharibabadi outlined the key U.S. obligations: ending hostilities, lifting the blockade, and releasing Iranian assets. According to Iran's state-affiliated Press TV, the official signing ceremony was scheduled for Friday, with the Memorandum of Understanding to be made public thereafter. Gharibabadi stressed that the agreement was not merely a diplomatic outcome but also a testament to Iran's military achievements and the sacrifices of its martyrs.

Adding a note of caution, Gharibabadi emphasized that the memorandum of understanding should not be misconstrued as a sign of trust in the U.S. He stated, "We will monitor the implementation of U.S. commitments." This stance underscores Iran's cautious approach to the deal, prioritizing verification and ongoing oversight.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to announce the completion of the deal, declaring, "The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!" He also authorized the immediate lifting of the U.S. Naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a significant de-escalation in the region. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also confirmed that an agreement had been reached following intensive negotiations, including the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, notably in Lebanon.
