Operating from the Oval Office, Trump detailed a series of productive phone conversations that paved the way for this development. He specifically mentioned engaging with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain, as well as the Pakistani army chief. Additionally, he reported a positive call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a discussion with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The potential agreement comes after a period of intense diplomatic activity, including the recent visit of mediators to Tehran. While progress had been signaled, the final sprint towards what is described as a pre-agreement or memorandum of understanding, potentially extending a two-month truce, appears to be underway. Trump had previously indicated to CBS News that a final accord would prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, ensuring Iranian enriched uranium is "handled satisfactorily."

Trump emphasized his commitment to signing an agreement only if it meets all U.S. demands.
