The draft agreement, as reported by Iranian state media, proposes that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would revert to its pre-war status. In exchange, the United States would withdraw its forces from regions situated near Iran.

Details of the potential deal emerged over the weekend, with Trump indicating that negotiations were underway for the final aspects of a peace proposal. A spokesperson for Iran had previously stated that the parties had reached an agreement on a framework. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri Kani reiterated on Wednesday that discussions with the U.S. do not include the issue of highly enriched uranium.
