Iran hits second Kuwait power plant, Bahrain repels aerial attacks

Kuwait announced Saturday that Iran had attacked another of its power and water plants, leading to the deactivation of several power generation units. This marks the second such attack in as many days, with Friday's incident causing a fire and damage at a facility. Kuwait's fire service reported that Saturday's attacks by Iran ignited blazes at two locations, injuring several firemen and a worker.

Another electricity and water distillation plant was targeted by a hostile attack that led to a fire erupting in one of the plant’s components.

The country's national carrier indicated that most of its flights were being rescheduled as air traffic at Kuwait International Airport was temporarily suspended due to rocket and drone attacks.

Meanwhile, Bahrain's army stated that its air defenses thwarted a wave of Iranian attacks. An AFP journalist in Manama reported hearing explosions after sirens sounded. The army confirmed that air defense systems intercepted and destroyed several Iranian aerial assaults. Bahrain's interior ministry noted that air-raid sirens had sounded five times since dawn, urging residents to seek shelter.

Earlier, the Iranian army claimed responsibility for targeting an air base in Bahrain used by the United States. According to Iran's state broadcaster, the drones targeted aircraft shelters, parking areas, and fuel storage tanks at the Sheikh Isa Air Base, along with several connecting bridges in Bahrain, as retaliation for American strikes.
