Iran Says It Attacked U.S. Bases in Jordan in Retaliation for Washington’s Strike on Larak

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it launched a retaliatory attack with missiles and drones against two U.S. bases in Jordan, naming Al Azraq and Rey Hussein as targets. The claim followed a U.S. bombing of Iran’s Larak Island earlier the same day.

The Guard said the operation caused “major damage,” but no independent account of the impact on the bases had emerged. Jordan’s military reported that its air defenses intercepted eight missiles inside the country’s airspace. It said the missiles caused no damage or casualties and were destroyed before threatening civilians or property.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed the earlier strike on Larak, an Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz. It said the target was a group of rockets loaded with naval mines that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps planned to place in the strategic waterway.

The Jordanian Armed Forces confronted these attacks and managed to destroy the missiles before they posed a threat to citizens or property.
