Iran says Lebanon conflict 'main topic' in US talks

Iran announced that the ongoing conflict in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah will be the central topic in its upcoming talks with the United States in Switzerland. Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stated that the "Zionist regime continues to violate its commitment in Lebanon," making this issue the main focus of discussions.

Tehran also indicated that the negotiations would address frozen Iranian funds and the sale of the country's oil. Iran had previously announced on Thursday the signing of a deal with Washington to cease hostilities, which began on February 28 following U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran. The agreement was also expected to halt the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in Lebanon.

Despite Iran's military announcing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz again due to Israeli attacks in Lebanon, Baqaei reported a "fragile cessation" had been established since Saturday evening, with no fresh strikes in Lebanon. The Iranian delegation is scheduled to meet with the U.S. delegation, with mediators Pakistan and Qatar present, in separate and quadrilateral meetings at a Swiss resort.
