Iran State TV Airs Segment Suggesting Assassination of Trump's Son; Secret Service Aware

Iran's state broadcaster has aired a segment that includes an English-language suggestion for assassinating Barron Trump, the youngest son of former U.S. President Donald Trump. The broadcast, which aired over the weekend, featured a three-minute video that posed the question, "Where to kill Barron Trump?" and suggested potential locations like Trump Tower in New York.

The video, broadcast by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), which is closely linked to hardline factions like the Revolutionary Guard, also included narration about a potential $10 million reward. Barron Trump, 20, is the only child of Donald Trump and his wife Melania, and is currently attending New York University.

The U.S. Secret Service has acknowledged awareness of the video. Spokesperson Nate Haring stated, "We are aware of the video and investigate all credible threats against those we protect." However, he declined to comment further, citing operational security.

U.S. law enforcement sources described the video as part of a broader Iranian propaganda effort targeting the Trump family. Threats against the Trumps have been ongoing since Trump's first term, intensifying after he ordered the assassination of Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani in 2020. Donald Trump himself has previously spoken about being on assassination lists, expressing concern that his luck might run out.

This incident highlights the continued animosity between Iran and the U.S. following Trump's presidency and actions, particularly concerning the Soleimani killing. The Secret Service's confirmation indicates a heightened level of concern regarding potential threats originating from Iran.
