Iran Warns Countries Supporting U.S. Sanctions Will Be Treated as Enemies

Iran has issued a stern warning, declaring that any nation aligning with the United States' economic sanctions will be regarded as an enemy.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated in a televised interview that Tehran would first attempt to negotiate with neighboring countries, urging them not to participate in the U.S.-led "economic war." However, he added that if these nations persist, Iran would retaliate with measures against them.

Rezaei, a former commander of the Revolutionary Guard, specifically threatened to disrupt oil export routes beyond the Strait of Hormuz for countries collaborating with the U.S. economic pressure campaign. This warning comes in response to President Donald Trump's announcement of what he termed the "most devastating economic D-Day ever undertaken against any country."

Furthermore, Rezaei indicated that Iran would target U.S. economic interests in the region if Washington proceeds with further financial actions. "We have not attacked any U.S. economic interests. Until now, we have only attacked military bases, but if they intend to impose economic sanctions on us, the United States has oil and economic companies in the region, and we will attack them," he said. The exact nature of the new U.S. measures remains undisclosed, though Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has cautioned countries providing "any type of vital aid to Iran" about facing economic consequences.
