Iraq considers issuing new banknotes worth less than 250 dinars

Iraq is considering issuing new banknote denominations worth less than 250 dinars, according to Jamal Kochar, a member of the parliamentary Finance Committee.

Kochar said the committee had held discussions with the governor of the Central Bank of Iraq. The talks covered proposals to remove zeros from the currency, printing banknotes, closed banks and the country's general financial position.

He said the discussions also revealed a direction toward introducing denominations below the current 250-dinar note.
