Ireland has achieved a landmark series triumph over T20 world champions India, clinching the series with a dramatic one-run victory in Belfast. The home side recovered from a slow start to post 154-8, with Harry Tector marking his 100th T20 international appearance with a significant 50. The match saw an explosive start to India's chase as Jai Moondra, who had impressed on debut Friday, dismissed Sanju Samson lbw with the first ball and followed up by removing captain Shreyas Iyer in the same over. India regrouped after a rain delay, with Tilak Varma scoring 55 and Harshit Rana adding 21 late in the innings. However, their efforts were ultimately insufficient as they finished on 153-9, falling just short of Ireland's total. Notably, 15-year-old Indian batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has been in stellar form in the Indian Premier League, was again overlooked for a debut, having also been left out of the previous match. Sooryavanshi's next opportunity to debut for India will be in the upcoming T20 series against England.
