IRGC Says it Prepared Scenarios to Avoid US Sanctions

Hossein Mohebi, a spokesman for Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), announced Sunday that Tehran has developed economic strategies, including strengthening trade ties with regional partners, to counteract the impact of escalating US sanctions. Mohebi asserted that the results of these new measures would soon become apparent, stating, "We have scenarios to counter the adverse effects of the enemy’s war and can easily establish economic relations with countries." He further claimed that Iran is continuing its economic activities "right under America's nose," effectively bypassing US pressure. These declarations were made shortly before US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced new sanctions on Iran, characterized as "the toughest in history." Mohebi provided no specific details on the nations, companies, or financial channels being used to circumvent the restrictions, only that Iran has broad alternative economic plans. He also framed the ongoing economic pressure as a continuation of a 47-year-long "economic warfare," suggesting the current US campaign is largely intended to influence public perception. Mohebi also touched upon military aspects, alleging Iranian forces had targeted "between 30 and 40 US warships" in the Arabian Gulf previously, though without providing independent verification. He claimed US warships have retreated significantly from the Gulf, with troops now stationed far from its waters.
