Ironic message from Galperin after videos of Jesica Cirio with bags of dollars emerge

Mercado Libre founder Marcos Galperin made an ironic comment after videos surfaced showing Argentine model Jesica Cirio with bags full of dollars. The scandal escalated quickly, prompting reactions from various public figures, including Galperin, the executive chairman of the e-commerce giant.

Galperin cited an X post where a user asked the artificial intelligence Grok to estimate the total amount of money visible in seven videos released on Saturday. Grok estimated the sum to be between $200 and $400 million dollars. "Between $20 and $40 million... But Adorni had a 'waterfall'...," Galperin quipped in his comment, referencing a report about Manuel Adorni, the current Chief of Staff and former presidential spokesperson.

The report detailed that Adorni and his wife spent approximately US$245,000 in cash on renovations for their country house. These renovations included a marble-clad heated pool and a waterfall costing $3,400. This information added a new dimension to the investigation into alleged illicit enrichment against Adorni and his wife, Bettina Angeletti, leading the official to submit his financial disclosure statement.

The videos of Cirio surfaced amidst an ongoing investigation into illicit enrichment and money laundering involving the model and her ex-husband, former Buenos Aires Chief of Staff Martín Insaurralde. The footage, reportedly recorded by Cirio herself in 2023, shows her inside a men's dressing room. Dollar bills, wrapped in plastic bags, are neatly arranged in drawers and on shelves. One video shows Cirio opening drawers filled with bags containing at least three stacks of dollars each, and also reveals boxes and a blue suitcase packed with more dollar bags. Observers estimate the total hidden fortune amounts to millions of dollars, allegedly kept in the room she shared with Insaurralde when they were a couple in their home in the Fincas de San Vicente neighborhood.
