Islamic Military Coalition and UK to Expand Counterterrorism Cooperation

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition and the United Kingdom agreed to explore wider cooperation during talks at the UK Ministry of Defense headquarters in London.

IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi met Vice Adm. Edward Ahlgren, the UK defense senior adviser for the Middle East and North Africa, on Wednesday. The meeting formed part of the coalition’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with countries and international organizations.

The two sides discussed areas of mutual interest and ways to improve coordination in support of international efforts against terrorism and extremism. They also examined changing security challenges and methods for building capabilities in related fields.

The talks emphasized coordinated action, the sharing of expertise and stronger partnerships among governments and relevant organizations. The participants said expanded cooperation would help address rapid changes in the international security environment.
