Israel adds four more medals at Jiu-Jitsu Worlds

Israel's impressive performance at the Cadet and Junior World Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Abu Dhabi continued with a strong showing in the No-Gi competition, adding four more medals to their tally and securing second place in the overall standings. The Israeli delegation concluded the event with a total of 13 medals, including four golds.

Guy Torres led the charge by capturing the Under-18 world championship in the under-62 kg division. Tamir Naim earned a bronze medal in the same competitive weight class. Shalev Snir added a silver medal in the under-56 kg category, and Eden Gamliel finished as runner-up in the Under-18 under-69 kg division, rounding out a successful day for the squad.

We concluded the Cadet and Junior No-Gi World Championships with another day full of success for Team Israel. I want to thank our coaching staff for their preparation and support throughout this demanding competition. I also extend special thanks to Ambassador Yossi Shelley for honoring us with his presence during much of the championship.

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, a grappling style without the traditional uniform, emphasizes speed and body control. The Israeli team's success in Abu Dhabi included multiple renditions of their national anthem, "Hatikvah." This latest achievement builds on earlier world titles won by Noga Reshef and Lia Shalev in the traditional gi competition.

Ambassador Yossi Shelley accompanied the delegation throughout much of the competition, offering support and presenting medals. Erez Elroy, president of the Israel Jiu-Jitsu Association, praised the coaching staff and the athletes' performance. Arik Kaplan, president and CEO of the Ayelet Association, highlighted the skill, determination, and character displayed by the young athletes, underscoring the depth of Israel's next generation of talent.

Guy, Tamir, Eden and Shalev competed against some of the world’s best athletes and displayed outstanding skill, determination and character. Their performances, together with the team’s overall results and second-place finish in the medal standings, demonstrate the depth and quality of Israel’s next generation of athletes.
