Israel Aerospace Industries names former IDF Brig-Gen. as new CEO, pending gov't approval

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has named Brigadier-General (ret.) Guy Barlev as its new chief executive officer, marking a significant leadership transition for the state-owned defense contractor. The decision, announced Tuesday, now awaits formal approval from the Israeli government.

Barlev brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as IAI's executive vice-president since 2020 and leading the company's Systems Missiles & Space Group. IAI Chairman of the Board Boaz Levy highlighted Barlev's deep familiarity with both international and local defense markets, as well as his understanding of customer needs. Guy has successfully managed the Systems Missiles & Space Group for approximately six years. He has deep familiarity with both the international and local defense markets, as well as the Company’s customers’ requirements.

The appointment is subject to the approval of Defense Minister Israel Katz and Regional Development Minister Dudi Amsalem, who also heads the Government Companies Authority. Barlev's career includes significant service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), where he held various positions until 2015, including deputy commander of the Judea and Samaria Division. He holds degrees from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the University of Haifa, and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
