Israel is America's 'only true Western ally,' Florida's GOP House hopeful David Burck tells 'Post'

David Burck, a candidate vying to represent Florida's 22nd Congressional District, has declared Israel as America's "only true Western ally." Burck, who is participating in the Republican Primary on August 18, brings nearly two decades of public service to his political bid.

His background includes service in the U.S. Marine Corps' Military Police and as a municipal police officer with the West Palm Beach Police Department. Burck stated his decision to enter politics stemmed from the 2020 riots, which followed the police killing of George Floyd. He felt a calling to address societal problems, which he described as an "outgrowth of the culture war."

I saw what was happening, and I felt this calling, which is what’s got me really involved in the political space.

Burck also expressed concern about rising antisemitism and what he perceives as a disdain for Israel. He questioned if these sentiments are a continuation of a "leftist rot" affecting the West. He has been involved with Turning Point USA and previously fundraised for its founder, Charlie Kirk.

Addressing local concerns, Burck highlighted the cost-of-living crisis in Florida, acknowledging its connection to geopolitical events like the Strait of Hormuz closure. While recognizing that some view a recent U.S. Memorandum of Understanding with Iran as detrimental, he suggested that average Americans prioritize immediate financial realities. Burck, drawing on his military and negotiation experience, described the deal as "less than ideal" but understood the local economic pressures that make the situation seem untenable.
