Israel killed 33 Gazans in escalating attacks during Muslim holiday

Israeli forces killed 33 Palestinians and wounded more than 130 in the Gaza Strip over a 96-hour period during the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. The escalation of attacks, which began on Wednesday and concluded on Saturday, resulted in significant casualties, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

These deaths bring the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli fire since the current ceasefire took effect on October 10 to 930, with over 2,800 others injured. On Saturday alone, Jamal Abu Aoun, head of Anesthesia at Yafa Hospital, was killed in an Israeli attack on a police post. Two other individuals were injured in the same incident, as reported by a source from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

Israeli troops reportedly control over 60% of the Gaza enclave, while more than two million Gazans remain displaced amid widespread destruction. Reconstruction efforts have not yet begun, and a planned committee of technocrats to oversee the post-war Gaza has not commenced its work. Since October 7, 2023, over 72,900 Gazans have died, including approximately 20,000 minors, with the majority of the population forcibly displaced from their homes.
