Israel warns Iran after missiles targeted Jordan

Israel's defense minister, Israel Katz, issued a stern warning to Iran on Sunday, vowing a forceful response to any missile attacks. This declaration came after Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted three Iranian missiles, at least one of which was heading towards the city of Aqaba in Jordan. Israeli military forces also thwarted an attack targeting Eilat, where explosions were heard during the interception of an Iranian projectile.

"If Iran fires missiles at Israel, we will attack them with full force," Katz stated. He added, "If the USA changes its policy, which can also happen, we are ready for both defensive and offensive action." In response to the escalating tensions, Jordan's Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian chargé d'affaires. During the meeting, Jordan demanded an immediate cessation of "continued brutal and unjustified Iranian aggressions directed at the kingdom's territory."

The situation has intensified following a US military announcement that two soldiers were killed in an Iranian attack on Jordan on Friday. Reports indicate that a total of 16 soldiers have been killed since the US and Israel began targeting Iran on February 28. Kuwait has also reported Iranian attacks, with a power plant and a drinking water desalination plant being affected. Kuwait's Foreign Ministry condemned these attacks as directly targeting critical civilian infrastructure. Iran claims it targeted two US military bases in Kuwait in retaliation for over a week of US strikes. The US military confirmed further strikes against Iran overnight Sunday, marking the eighth consecutive night of attacks, in response to the incident in Jordan that claimed the lives of two soldiers.
