Israeli-American defense startup launches new Anthem cruise missile in Morocco military test

Israeli-American defense startup Covenant Industries launched its new Anthem cruise missile in a live-fire demonstration last week in southern Morocco. The test took place at the newly established Africa Multidomain Training and Experimentation Center (AMTEC), a facility created under the Abraham Accords to serve as a permanent military laboratory for advanced warfare technologies.

US and Moroccan forces, alongside Covenant engineers, conducted the test in the Sahara Desert. They evaluated the missile's communication systems, launch mechanisms, and real-time data collection capabilities in various climate conditions. Founded in 2024 by American investor Michael Kaufman, Covenant Industries has operated with a low public profile but has secured significant funding from Silicon Valley investors.

The Anthem missile is designed to be a more affordable and easily mass-produced option compared to expensive missiles like the US Tomahawk, while still offering long-range precision strikes. The company is also developing interceptors for drones. The Moroccan test was facilitated by a new US Army initiative allowing private tech firms rapid access to allied military testing grounds, with Covenant being the first to utilize it. Serial production of the Anthem missile is anticipated to begin as early as 2027.
