Israeli Army Kills 14-Year-Old Palestinian Teenager in West Bank Raid

Israeli forces shot and killed a 14-year-old Palestinian boy in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, Palestinian health authorities reported. The teenager, identified as Islam Ahmad Maher Ajouri, was killed by live ammunition during an Israeli military raid on the Askar refugee camp, located near Nablus.

Mohammed Abu Kashk, head of the Askar camp services committee, told AFP that the boy was killed during the raid. He asserted that there were no clashes or confrontations that would justify the shooting of a child. The Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed Ajouri was hit in the chest and later pronounced dead at Nablus National Hospital.

At the boy's funeral, his uncle, Ahmed Mohamed Zamzoum, told AFP that Ajouri went outside during the army's raid. He lamented that "every time the Israeli forces enter, one or more martyrs are killed."

In a separate incident on the same day, the Israeli army reported apprehending a man suspected of stabbing an Israeli in Al-Auja, a village in the central West Bank. Hani Najum, the head of the Al-Auja village council, stated that the Israeli army raided the village and imposed a curfew.

Violence in the West Bank has escalated significantly since the war in Gaza began in October 2023. According to an AFP tally based on Palestinian health ministry data, Israeli soldiers or settlers have killed at least 1,100 Palestinians in the territory since then.
