Israeli attacks in Gaza kill at least six amid fragile truce

Israeli fire in Gaza killed at least six Palestinians on Sunday, including a 9-year-old girl, and injured more than a dozen others, according to local health officials.

A drone strike on a blacksmith workshop in Gaza City's Al-Sabra neighborhood killed at least four Palestinians, Shifa Hospital officials reported. The Israeli military claimed it attacked "terrorist infrastructure" in the area. The Israel Defense Forces stated on X that Hamas fighters were operating from a weapons production site to manufacture armaments, violating a ceasefire agreement.

Palestinians received an evacuation order from the army after the initial attacks. About an hour later, intense shelling hit the same workshop. The Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance service reported that the Gaza City attacks injured 14 people.

The Israeli attack also killed 9-year-old Tala Abu Matar in a refugee camp in central Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health. The Israeli military said it had no knowledge of such an incident. Additionally, an Israeli bombing of a displaced persons' tent in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killed one Palestinian, according to health officials at Nasser Hospital. Israel's military acknowledged an attack in that area, calling it "part of routine activities" with no known casualties.

Israeli attacks have decreased significantly since a ceasefire took effect on October 10 but continue almost daily. The Israeli military asserts it targets Hamas and other militants, often claiming they were planning attacks. Bombings have also killed many civilians. At least 1,098 Palestinians, including at least 260 children, have died since the truce, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health. Five Israeli soldiers have died in the same period. The October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas-led terrorists, which triggered the war, killed about 1,200 people.
