Israeli man, two Gazans indicted over illegal transport for 50 shekels

An Israeli man and two residents of Gaza have been indicted on charges related to the illegal transportation of individuals across the border. The driver, identified as Mahmoud Khatib, reportedly admitted to facilitating the movement of the two Gazans in exchange for 50 Israeli shekels.

The indictment, filed at the Nazareth Magistrate’s Court, details that Northern District patrol officers observed a vehicle in Kafr Kanna. The officers stopped the Skoda after noticing one of the passengers attempting to conceal himself. Inside, they discovered the two Gaza residents, aged 37 and 54, who lacked the necessary permits to be in Israel.

Mahmoud Khatib, a 74-year-old resident of Kafr Kanna, has been charged by the Israel Police’s Nazareth North Prosecution Unit with transporting individuals illegally present in the country. The two passengers face charges for entering and remaining in Israel without permits. All three individuals are subject to requests for continued custody until the completion of their legal proceedings.
