Issyk-Kul Forum Adopts Resolution on Global Challenges

Participants at the Chingiz Aitmatov Issyk-Kul International Forum in Cholpon-Ata adopted a resolution outlining a path forward for addressing contemporary global challenges. The forum convened prominent scholars, writers, public figures, and representatives from international organizations worldwide.

Discussions centered on pressing global issues such as escalating geopolitical tensions, armed conflicts, the impacts of climate change, socioeconomic disparities, and the complexities of technological transformation. The adopted resolution acknowledges that these factors present new imperatives for humanity.

The document emphasizes the importance of advancing Chingiz Aitmatov's humanist ideals and the intellectual legacy of the Issyk-Kul Forum. Key initiatives proposed include strengthening international dialogue, fostering peace and mutual understanding, protecting the environment, preserving mountain ecosystems and glaciers, supporting young scientists, and ensuring the forum's activities continue on a sustainable basis.

To institutionalize the forum's work, the resolution suggests holding it every four years in Kyrgyzstan. It also recommends establishing a permanent coordination council, essentially a secretariat, in Bishkek to oversee the forum's activities. Furthermore, proposals aim to elevate the forum's international prestige. Participants agreed to forward these recommendations to international organizations to garner broad support.
