Istanbul 18th Criminal Court of First Instance: Sentence Issued in Theft Case

The Istanbul 18th Criminal Court of First Instance has handed down a prison sentence to Hüseyin İslam, son of İmran and Belgis, born in Iran in 1972. The court convicted İslam for the crime of theft, specifically by skillfully picking pockets or carrying items, as stipulated under Article 142/2-b of the Turkish Penal Code.

İslam was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months of imprisonment. In addition to the prison term, the court ruled that he be deprived of certain legal rights as outlined in Article 53/1-a, b, d, c, and 53/1-2-3 of the Turkish Penal Code.

Due to the defendant's inability to be located despite extensive searches, the court's verdict could not be personally served. Consequently, as per Article 29 of Law No. 7201 on Notifications, the summary of the ruling will be published in newspapers with a circulation exceeding 50,000 and on the internet. The verdict will be considered officially served 15 days after the date of this publication.
