South Korean baseball fans are reaching beyond the familiar combination of fried chicken and beer. This year’s most popular stadium takeout and delivery item was a set combining raw beef and mulhoe, a chilled raw seafood dish.

The set accounted for 26.95% of orders inside baseball stadiums, according to delivery platform Yogiyo on the 7th. Fried peppers ranked second with 11.18%, followed by chicken at 10.5%.

Yogiyo said the chilled, savory combination appeared to appeal to fans during the hot peak season. Its analysis of social media data on baseball-stadium food also found that “raw beef/raw salmon” received the most mentions.

With professional baseball reaching 10 million spectators in the fewest games on record this year, stadium food is changing along with the scale of the experience. Distinctive dishes are emerging as signature offerings at individual ballparks, expanding a baseball outing into a broader food experience.

Yogiyo said fresh foods and higher-end dishes are rapidly becoming popular because fans can enjoy them neatly outdoors and take photos for social media, rather than choosing only greasy and heavy fried foods.
