It Wasn’t an OXXO: Where Is Camilo Huerta Serving House Arrest?

For several hours, the address where Camilo Huerta is serving total house arrest appeared to be an OXXO store in Ñuñoa. The unusual detail caused confusion after the reality TV personality was formally charged in the investigation known as “Amsterdam Empire.”

Carabineros reported to Santiago’s Fourth Guarantee Court that Huerta had breached the measure after finding that the address he provided belonged to a commercial premises operated by the OXXO chain. The court later clarified that the address actually referred to a residence in Estación Central, on Sargento Rojas Street.

Judge Nicolás Flores corrected the information and issued a ruling ordering future police checks at the Estación Central home, rather than at the OXXO location in Ñuñoa. CHV cameras later filmed Huerta at the Sargento Rojas address on Thursday morning.

Questions remain about how police arrived at the Ñuñoa address. Huerta was charged with other defendants over alleged organized crime, drug trafficking and money laundering. The investigation concerns an organization that sold drugs, mainly cannabis, through medicinal dispensaries in quantities that allegedly exceeded permitted limits.
