Italian Authorities Seize 2 Million Euro 'Treasure' Linked to Notorious Crime Boss

Italian authorities have successfully confiscated assets totaling 2 million euros, linked to the laundering of illicit gains by Felice Maniero, the alleged former head of the notorious Mala del Brenta crime syndicate. The operation, carried out by the Financial Police's Anti-Money Laundering Unit in collaboration with units in Florence and Venice, targeted properties and valuables accumulated through criminal proceeds.

The confiscated assets include two buildings located in the provinces of Florence and Lucca, five vehicles, valuable jewelry, and artwork. These items have been placed under judicial administration. Additionally, bank accounts and safety deposit boxes in Empoli were seized, revealing 90,000 euros in cash and 15 luxury watches.

Investigations were launched following Maniero's decision to cooperate with authorities after his repentance. Through extensive financial analysis, document examination, and international cooperation, investigators confirmed the confessions of the former crime boss. The funds were traced to investments in real estate, luxury goods like Rolex and Cartier watches, and other financial instruments controlled by Maniero.

The operation culminated in the seizure of these assets, which have now been returned to the community. This confiscation represents a significant blow to organized crime and underscores the authorities' commitment to recovering assets derived from illegal activities.
