The Italian Embassy in Bangkok issued a statement condemning the "inappropriate behaviour of a group of Italian underage tourists" on a school trip and apologized "to the people of Thailand and to everyone affected." The embassy emphasized Italians' appreciation for Thai values of respect and harmonious coexistence. It also shared a video of the teen involved in the middle-finger incident and group leaders apologizing. The teen is reportedly returning to Italy soon due to his behavior. Thailand has recently tightened visa-free stay durations as part of efforts to curb crimes by foreigners, following arrests for offenses including public indecency.
