Italian teenager arrested for ISIS association, antisemitic and neo-Nazi propaganda

Italian authorities have arrested a 16-year-old boy for alleged ties to ISIS and for disseminating neo-Nazi and antisemitic propaganda. The teenager, from the province of Como, was apprehended in Grosseto while on vacation with his family.

He faces charges of participating in an association aimed at international terrorism, as well as propaganda and incitement to commit crimes motivated by racial, ethnic, and religious discrimination. The investigation, led by the anti-terrorism section of the General Investigations and Special Operations Division (DIGOS) in Milan, began after intelligence agencies flagged a user spreading ISIS-linked material online.

Further investigation traced the online profiles to the minor, who had no prior record of extremist associations. This makes the case unusual, involving a minor detained for terrorism-related offenses without a documented extremist past.

A search of the teenager's personal devices revealed a significant amount of ISIS propaganda in various languages, including videos of training sessions and executions. The content also included supremacist, neo-Nazi, and antisemitic material. Investigators found videos and conversations where the teen allegedly expressed support for ISIS and admitted to helping produce propaganda for the group. A Russian-language video detailing how to construct an improvised explosive device was also discovered.
