Ive Kraljević's directorial debut to premiere at DokuFest, alongside seven other Croatian films

The directorial debut of film editor and cinematographer Ive Kraljević, "Leave This Room Buried," is set to have its world premiere at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival DokuFest. The festival, which is Kosovo's largest, begins next week in Prizren.

Across its various sections, the 25th edition of DokuFest, running from August 7 to 15, will feature a total of eight Croatian productions and co-productions. "Leave This Room Buried" is described as an intimate, experimental-documentary film that unfolds as a journey through personal imagination and fragile poetry, capturing sadness, the complicity of silence, and fragments of presence in what remains, according to the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

The film will compete in the regional short film competition at the Prizren festival. Croatian audiences will have opportunities to see it at the 25 FPS festival in Zagreb in September and in the Croatian Film Days competition in Karlovac in October. The same program also includes Tonći Gaćina's Croatian film "Goats!," which focuses on the challenges faced by residents of an offshore island dealing with hundreds of stray goats left behind after a state project failed.

In the feature-length competition, "The Peacemaker" by Ivan Ramljak, "What Needs to Be Done" by Srđan Kovačević, "Yugo Goes to America" by Filip Grujić and Alekse Borković, and "Sunset" by Miloš Jaćimović will be screened. Burak Çevik's co-production "Long Hours Two Lab Assistants" is part of the international short film competition, and Arsen Oremović's feature film "Third World" is included in the section dedicated to music documentaries.

DokuFest annually screens over 200 films from around the globe, filling cinemas and improvised screening spaces around the historic center of Prizren. The festival is a significant platform for international and regional cinema.
