Ivory Coast customs steps up awareness campaign on declaring cash at borders

Ivory Coast’s Customs Financial Monitoring Group is stepping up efforts to inform travelers, traders and other operators about obligations to declare cash and negotiable instruments at the country’s borders.

On Sept. 3, 2026, the group handed communication materials to the Directorate of Port Customs Services and Special Services. The initiative aims to make the Border Cash Declaration System, known as Sydef, better understood and more widely used by participants in customs and commercial operations.

The ceremony took place in the directorate’s conference room, in the presence of department heads and representatives of economic operators. A2-sized posters and leaflets were distributed to reinforce awareness work carried out in the field.
