İYİ Party leader Dervişoğlu reacts to 'absolute nullity' ruling: 'I cannot remain silent against oppression'

Müsavat Dervişoğlu, leader of Turkey's İYİ Party, strongly condemned a recent court decision concerning the Republican People's Party (CHP), labeling it an "absolute nullity." Speaking at his party's group meeting, Dervişoğlu asserted that the İYİ Party remains committed to truth and justice, refusing to bow to dictates or accept decisions that he believes undermine the party's long-standing cause.

Dervişoğlu framed the situation not merely as an internal CHP matter but as a broader maneuver shaping the future of Turkish politics. He expressed deep concern over what he perceives as a move towards a personalized state system, contrasting it with his party's desire for a republic rather than a "sultanate." He emphasized the need for public trust in the nation's wisdom over new political debates.

"I cannot remain silent in the face of oppression. I will not allow a blow to democracy. I will fight with İYİ Party cadres to the end," Dervişoğlu declared. He specifically referenced past instances of perceived judicial overreach, including the appointment of a trustee with a terrorism conviction, and stated that such actions, including the recent decision concerning the CHP, are "null and void" in their eyes.

The İYİ Party leader extended an open invitation to individuals wishing to align with the party, stating, "Whoever wants to lean on the İYİ Party, let them come. Everyone who joins our ranks will be welcomed with open arms."
