Jaaved Jaaferi Returns as Manav in 'Dhamaal 4', Reflects on Career

Jaaved Jaaferi is set to reprise his iconic role as Manav in Indra Kumar's upcoming comedy, 'Dhamaal 4.' Jaaferi first embodied the man-child character nearly two decades ago in the original 'Dhamaal' (2007), and he notes that Manav's essence remains unchanged. "There’s nothing that’s changed in Manav. The whole point is that it shouldn’t," Jaaferi stated, emphasizing that the character is central to the film's enduring appeal. He is one of the two constant characters, alongside Arshad Warsi's Adi, throughout the franchise's four installments, while other roles have seen changes or departures. Jaaferi fondly recalled the organic and fun atmosphere of the first film's shoot, highlighting the camaraderie among the cast. Looking back at his career, Jaaferi pointed to 'Jajantaram Mamantaram' (2003) as his technical switch to comedic roles, followed by 'Salaam Namaste' (2005) and 'Dhamaal' (2007). He acknowledged that success in comedy led to more such offers, often in supporting capacities, as the industry often requires a solo hit to elevate actors to lead roles. Despite a prolific past two years with multiple films and web series, Jaaferi expressed that he feels "the best is yet to come" and looks forward to exploring more diverse roles.
