Jadran wins final but misses EuroCup title against Marseille

Split's water polo team, Jadran, secured a 16-14 victory against French champions Marseille in the second leg of the EuroCup final at Zvončac pool. Despite the win, the Croatian team fell short of claiming the trophy, having lost the first leg 19-16, resulting in Marseille winning the EuroCup for the second time.

The intense match, which included a significant delay due to a scoreboard malfunction, saw Jadran fighting to overcome the three-goal deficit from the first leg. Although they managed to pull ahead by two goals late in the game, Dušan Matković's attempt to equalize was blocked, sealing their fate.

Jadran's Zvonimir Butić delivered a remarkable performance, scoring eight goals, while Matković contributed three. For Marseille, Thomas Vernoux was the top scorer with five goals. The final scoreline reflected a hard-fought contest, but ultimately, the French team's advantage from the initial match proved decisive.
