Jakarta Bapenda Building Engulfed in Fire; 100 Firefighters Deployed

A significant fire broke out at the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) building in Central Jakarta on Friday evening, August 7th.

Multiple fire engines and personnel were dispatched to the scene on Jalan Abdul Muis in Gambir. The Jakarta Fire Department's Command Center reported that the response was scaled up as the fire grew, eventually involving 20 fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters.

Initial reports of the fire were received around 9:30 PM Western Indonesian Time. Videos circulating online showed thick smoke billowing from the building, with flames reportedly engulfing nearly half of the structure. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building or nearby structures.

As of the latest reports, the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined. Information regarding any injuries or fatalities resulting from the incident is also still being gathered. Firefighting efforts were ongoing to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to assess the extent of the damage to the Bapenda building.
