Jakarta Governor Targets Kali Cakung Lama Normalization Completion by 2028

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has set a target for the normalization of Kali Cakung Lama to be completed by 2028. He stated that the project is expected to reduce the impact of flooding in the Kelapa Gading and Cilincing districts by a significant 20 percent.

The governor plans to soon sign the location determination for land acquisition in the downstream section of Kali Cakung Lama. Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Agency, Ika Agustin, explained that the normalization work targeted by March 2027 covers approximately 2.6 kilometers on one side of the river. This amounts to about 5.2 kilometers when considering both sides. Currently, only about 1 kilometer has been completed.
