Jalisco authorities arrest woman accused of trying to poison her children with rat poison

Jalisco state prosecutors have arrested a woman accused of attempting to poison her three children with rat poison. The incident occurred on July 19 in the community of San Sebastián El Grande, Tlajomulco, when the children, aged 9, 7, and 3, fell ill after drinking a chocolate beverage.

Paramedics rushed the siblings to an IMSS clinic, where they received medical attention. Following the report of the intoxication, state authorities launched an investigation. Initial findings led investigators to suspect the mother, identified as Fabiola “N,” of adding the poison to the drink.

Based on sufficient evidence supporting this hypothesis, the Vice Prosecutor's Office for Specialized Investigation in Attention to Women, Girls, Boys, and Adolescents, Gender Reason, and the Family requested an arrest warrant for Fabiola “N.” The Fiscalía executed the warrant to investigate her for attempted parricide.

Authorities reported that the three children are in stable condition and are under the care of the Prosecutor's Office for the Protection of Children and Adolescents. The investigation continues to clarify the circumstances surrounding the event.
