JAMB extends deadline for 2021-2026 admission offers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has granted candidates a final chance to finalize their admission status, extending the deadline for accepting or rejecting offers made between 2021 and 2026. The previous deadline of August 31, 2026, has been moved to September 30, 2026.

Candidates with pending admission offers who have not yet accepted or rejected (regular or CUIIA) such offers are strongly advised to do so before 30 September 2026.

Fabian Benjamin, JAMB's Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, announced the extension in a statement on X, describing it as a crucial opportunity for candidates with outstanding admission offers. He strongly advised all affected individuals to take action before the new September 30 deadline to avoid negative repercussions on their admission status.

JAMB emphasized that failure to act within the stipulated period will have consequences. Candidates who accept their offers can proceed to print their admission letters. Conversely, those who reject offers will see their dashboards updated to 'Not Admitted,' allowing JAMB to maintain accurate records of candidates' current status.

Candidates should not wait until the deadline, as failure to take action within the stipulated period will have consequences for the status of such admissions.

The board also provided specific guidance for candidates in unique situations. Those no longer attending the institution where they received an offer, or who are in a different program, can accept the outstanding admission and then apply for corrections. Similarly, candidates pursuing a second degree with a pending earlier offer are advised to reject the old offer to continue their current program. JAMB assured that rejecting an earlier offer would not impact admissions secured in the 2026 exercise.

Those who reject their offers will have their dashboards reverted to ‘Not Admitted’, enabling the Board to update its records and ensure that its admission data accurately reflects the current status of candidates.
