Jamsil Stadium Hosts Final All-Star Game Before Demolition

The 2026 KBO All-Star Game, scheduled for July 11th at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, marks the final "Festival of Stars" to be held at the iconic venue before its demolition. This event signifies the end of an era for the stadium, which opened in 1982 and has been the home ground for the LG Twins and Doosan Bears.

Following the conclusion of the current season, both the LG Twins and Doosan Bears will temporarily relocate to the Seoul Olympic Stadium until 2031. They are slated to move into a new 30,000-seat dome stadium in 2032. The theme for this final Jamsil All-Star Game is "RE:Jamsil" - ALL STARS, ALL MEMORIES, aiming to reflect on and record cherished moments at the stadium.

Prior to the game, the Republic of Korea Air Force's aerobatic team, the Black Eagles, will perform an air show. During the cleaning time, singer Wooz will entertain the crowd with a live performance. The event promises a blend of baseball excitement and entertainment.

This year's All-Star Game also highlights individual achievements and potential milestones. Doosan catcher Yang Eui-ji received a record-breaking 2,605,510 fan votes, topping the All-Star Best 12 selections for the first time since 2018. This marks his 15th All-Star selection, tying him with Yang Joon-hyuk and Kang Min-ho for the second-most selections in KBO history, behind Kim Hyun-soo's 16.

Yang Eui-ji is also vying for his second "Mr. All-Star" award, having previously won in 2020. If successful, he would join an elite group of six players to win the award twice. The game also features veterans like Choi Hyoung-woo, born in 1983, who is aiming to break the record for the oldest player to appear in and hit a home run at the All-Star Game, currently held by Yang Joon-hyuk. Pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin is also participating for the ninth time and could aim for the record of the oldest winning pitcher.
